Laura provides strategic advice on a broad range of employment law matters. She is particularly experienced advising on collective bargaining matters and the protection of proprietary interests, including the enforcement of restraints of trade, search orders and team move issues.  She has a strong litigation practice, appearing in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court and acting on proceedings in the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Laura plays a key role internally with staff development and training, and is a standard bearer within the firm for excellent professional habits.

• Executed a search order on behalf of and acted for the plaintiff in Plan B Limited v Tam Roberts [2019] NZEmpC 108.
• Counsel for the plaintiff in GEA Process Engineering Limited v Schicker [2019] NZEmpC 166 (Employment Court), a leading case on the (lack of) powers of the Employment Relations Authority to strike out a claim without investigating it.
• Counsel for a corporate plaintiff in a “team move” High Court claim where departing employees and their new employer were sued for conspiring together by unlawful means.
• Counsel for a former managing director and his new employer in a “team move” High Court claim brought against him for breaches of his fiduciary duties where a team of investment brokers resigned en masse to join a new competitor.
